HS-BASE test vectors

Status: Non-normative working notes. These are relationship patterns, not current determinations about every program offered by a named provider. Confirm the actual enrollment terms, allocation of authority, and any bright-line exclusion when applying HS-BASE.

Example Pattern tested Expected HS-BASE result
University of Texas High School (UTHS) Parent purchases individual courses, determines their use in the home program, and controls the cumulative record. Potential pass; course count is immaterial. Enrollment in a school-controlled diploma program fails.
Texas Tech University / TTU K-12 Parent uses supplemental courses while retaining all four authorities. Potential pass. A full school diploma relationship fails.
Stanford Online High School Single-course participation under the parent’s program versus enrollment in the school’s general secondary program. Course-only arrangement may pass; general-program enrollment fails.
ASU Prep Purchased courses or services versus enrollment in a public or private school program. Services may pass if parental authority remains; Texas public-school enrollment categorically fails.
Classical Conversations A comprehensive outside curriculum and community instruction with the parent retaining institutional responsibility and the canonical record. Potential pass even if most or all instruction comes from outside providers.
Enlightium Academy Online school markets its school program as “homeschool” while controlling the general program, grading, transcript, and diploma. Fail under the institutional-responsibility test; labels and at-home delivery do not control.
Texas Connections Academy Enrollment in a Texas public virtual school, even when instruction occurs at home. Fail under the public-school exclusion.
All Nations Community School À-la-carte courses or core package under a parent-run program versus the school’s complete diploma program. Courses or package may pass if parental authority remains; complete diploma program fails.
Postsecondary dual enrollment Student attends college, university, or vocational courses while the parent controls the secondary program. Postsecondary enrollment does not transfer secondary institutional responsibility.
TEFA private-school category Student enrolls in the general program of a private school eligible for TEFA’s private-school funding category but takes no TEFA award. Fail; individual receipt of funding is irrelevant. Buying services without general-program enrollment does not trigger this exclusion.
Withdrawal right Parent may withdraw the student from an outside school’s diploma program at any time, but that school sets graduation requirements, determines advancement, and controls the cumulative record while the student is enrolled. Fail; the ability to leave does not supply the four reserved parental authorities during enrollment.

For every potential pass, Texas-law home-school status remains a prerequisite. Actual arrangements can change, so the names above are prompts for fact finding rather than endorsements or permanent classifications.
